The Game of Many Things
Usith is second only to Bala'Straal in terms of racial diversity. Tabaxi, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, dragonborn, and humans all make homes in a country almost as diverse as its population. Usith's calm beaches fade alternately into grassy dunes and grassier plains. There are small woods and larger forests scattered about, the foothills of the Faldur Mountains, and even an enormous lake that locals call the Small Sea.
Of course, everything from the eastern edge of the Small Sea and almost directly south was once part of Migduar and is now land that is quietly preparing for a border skirmish. Usith sees very little outside sea trade, since any ships that come by way of the sea require some form of manual propulsion to cross the Serene Expanse.
Asra Terin sits nestled at the foot of the Cattooth Mountains, and sees a lot of trade into Usith. The trade road splits just south of Asra, and many merchants make the detour north to visit and relax in the resort city. Asra was built on a complicated system of hot springs, and the baths there are known for their medicinal properties. Even tabaxi from Odan will travel down sometimes to soak in the mineral waters.
Ceslua gets its name from the edge of the lake it sits next to. Though everyone seems to call it the Small Sea, Ces Lake is the largest land-locked body of water in Taalenar. It is large enough that you can only just make out the opposite shore on a clear day.
Farelsi was chosen to be Usith's capital for two reasons: it is both fairly central to the country, and it contains a large portion of all represented races. Not as boisterous as Highwater, Farelsi is generally accepted to be the safest city in Taalenar. The city guard keep crime well under control, and despite the mixed racial population, neighbors tend to get along with each other quite well. Even wood elves are accepted, indeed, they are genuinely welcomed visitors, in Farelsi.
